About HMYC

History

Hook Mountain Yacht club originally began as a small marina built by James Kizer about 1950. Jim purchased an old lumber and gravel barge that became the platform for a clubhouse and center of activity on the water. The camaraderie between the original members led to the foundation of a cooperative yacht club that exists today as HMYC. This clubhouse is still maintained on the water offering spectacular, unobstructed views of the river activity and also provides a convenient place to duck inclement weather.

Mission

HMYC is a non-for-profit entity dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of safe boating through education and cooperative social environment. Annually elected officers and members participate in the operation and maintenance of the club through committees.

Affiliations

HMYC participates with numerous other members of Hudson River boat clubs as a member of the Hudson River Boat and Yacht Club Association. This association keeps clubs current with all issues relating to the river and boating. The association also offers members the opportunity to explore the river while enjoying reciprocal privileges at other association clubs.

HMYC is a member of Boat US. Club members are eligible for a discount on membership to this organization
